Update:
We will be recording a new episode this month, hopefully this next week. We're going to change the format slightly and the name, but we'll still have deviantArt in our cross-hairs so to speak. So let us know if there is anything you think we should talk about in in the deviantArt world for episode 3. Yes there is an episode 2, no it wont be released anytime soon.
Ta ta for now.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
So since the launch of our pilot episode of
devCast we've received a lot of feedback. Most of it positive, but not all of it. We are definitely going to take some of the suggestions to heart when we film episode number 3.0 (yes we have already filmed 2.0).
Length, Production, and Attitude were the main points of criticism.
Some found the episode too long, and we have already begun to time it down to under 25 mins in episode two. Eventually I'd like it to be down too 20 mins, some have suggested 5 too 10 but I think that's a little short for a monthly-ish program.
Most of the podcasts I regularly listen too though are an hour long and weekly or daily, so we need to test the market a little.
Production was crap, I know, I produce a weekly TV show for Shaw Cable. We had zero planing and were mostly shooting from the hip. `
neom basically said he wanted to do a podcast and, after arguing about it for an hour, we sat down and did it. I made him write down an outline though quickly before we did it, but he was excited and in a hurry. Lots of dead air, poor lighting, and poor audio also plugged my soul. But there isn't much we could do about it without sinking some money into it. Neom couldn't figure out how to edit the video in iMovie HD either, and I was too sick to be awake and show him. It was mostly an experimental thing anyways, and we didn't decided to do more of these until after the first one was put out.
Some have also mentioned that we focused on alot of negatives about DA. We talk about some in the next episode, but we also talk about a positive feature too. We mostly ramble on about devmeets though. I think its not as good as our first, but we're not going to re shoot it.
But despite or because of all that, the majority of people overwhelmingly enjoyed it. Will we continue with an episode 3? Hard to say, we live very far apart. But were working on some sort of webcam set up, or an audio only version. But who knows. We hope we can.
So thanks for the feedback, and the comments, and we hope you stay and enjoy episode 2 as well.
